Lingua e prassi della definizione dei confini nelle fonti documentarie. Materiali per uno studio del multiculturalismo in età normanna.

2022

Multiculturalism and multilingualism are often used to condense the Norman political and cultural experience in the kingdom of Sicily into a formula. How the coexistence of the three, if not four, cultural communities - Greek Byzantine language and rite, Arab Muslim and Judeo-Arabic, Latin Roman rite - was articulated is, however, a far from simple question. The contribution attempts to demonstrate the validity of the act of juridical practice as a tool for the study of Norman society and culture in Sicily starting from the analysis of the definition of boundaries, urban and rural, contained therein.
